How to apply evidence-based nursing into practice?

The nursing professions are central to the development of health care services in organisations.  The development of quality nursing services require that clinical decision-making in nursing is based on evidence. Current available research evidence from single studies needs to be synthesized for example to systematic reviews, evidence summaries, best practice information sheets and nursing clinical guidelines and thereafter it has to be implemented in practical environment.

Applying the EBN information is collaboration, education and discussion in practice settings. In applying EBN into practice it is important to consider concrete purposeful and enabling activities to facilitate the change. In nursing nurses and nursing leaders are needed to facilitate the practice and for example naming the local champions in EBN is one way to support the application and strengthen the EBN activities.
